Donald Trump at a rally in Washington

“Donald Trump has said he will impose strict restrictions on immigration to the United States on his first day as US president. He has vowed to quickly fulfill this key campaign promise. Trump made these remarks to thousands of supporters at a rally in Washington on Sunday, a day before taking office.

During the election campaign, Trump repeatedly said that if he becomes president, he will launch the toughest immigration enforcement campaign in US history. Under this measure, millions of immigrants will be deported. However, carrying out an anti-immigration campaign on that scale will take years and will cost a lot.

Yesterday, Trump said, “This is the greatest political movement in the history of the United States. 75 days ago, we achieved a historic political victory. Our country has never seen anything like this. Starting tomorrow, I will take action with historic force and solve every crisis in our country.”

This is Trump’s first major speech in Washington since January 6, 2021. After that speech, Trump’s supporters were inspired to attack Capitol Hill. Now Trump has said that if he takes office as president, he will pardon more than 1,500 people accused of the Capitol Hill attack.
Trump will speak after being sworn in as president on Monday.

He is expected to give a glimpse into what Trump is planning for his second term as president in that speech. In recent weeks, he has expressed his desire to seize Greenland and the Panama Canal and turn Canada into a U.S. state, which has shocked foreign allies.

Within hours of taking office at noon local time today, Trump has vowed to rescind “every single outrageous and senseless executive order of the Biden administration.”

A source familiar with Trump’s plans said Trump would take more than 200 executive actions in the United States on Monday.

Another source said border security would be among the first executive orders Trump would issue. The actions include designating drug cartels as “foreign terrorist organizations,” declaring a state of emergency at the U.S.-Mexico border and moving toward reinstating the “remain in Mexico” policy, which would keep asylum seekers who are not Mexicans waiting in the U.S. court for a date.

Trump’s deportation plans have created panic among immigrants. They are afraid of being deported. Many who are vocal on behalf of immigrants say that some of them are law-abiding immigrants, long-term residents and their spouses have US citizenship and children.

Trump will be sworn in as president today in a room at the US Capitol building. The ceremony was supposed to be held outdoors, but due to the winter weather, it will be held indoors later. About 25,000 members of law enforcement will be in charge of security for the ceremony.
